Experience

Ciao a tutti! With a background in Psychology, I always tailor my sessions to the personal skills and preferences of my students so that I can help them reach their academic goals. I listen to what my students tell me so that I can understand their learning process & style and identify productive tools and methods to help them overcome personal / academical challenges, and bring them one step closer to their goals. So what can you expect our sessions to look like? 1. When I tutor, I first like to find out what a student's current knowledge of the subject we are working on encompasses. 2. Then, we work on building their knowledge of the general concepts and the foundation of the subject, if needed, before we progress to more advanced topics. A deep understanding of the foundation of a subject helps students more than just memorizing facts or the answers to equations. 3. In every session, we set goals and then I strive to ensure that the student and I are working at a pace that is appropriate. I try to challenge my students, without overwhelming them. 4. At the end of each session, we evaluate our progress towards the goals we set in the beginning. I believe that this helps the student to focus on what he has accomplished while granting me the information to learn what works for each individual student. I endeavour to show each of my students that learning is and should be fun. I individualize their learning experience to ensure I have found ways to make it fun for them specifically. Once they are enjoying themselves it is much easier for them to become more open to the learning experience. The lessons that I offer are via Skype or upon request in your own home. I'm qualified to tutor a wide variety of subjects, such as English language, grammar, rhetoric and how to structure a paper. Additionally, scientifically subjects in the IB program. I'm comfortable working with students who have learning disabilities, too. I can also help students prepare for standardized tests like the PET , Cambridge, SAT. I whole heartedly believe that guiding my students to clearly express their thoughts is an essential component in the learning process.  My teaching philosophy in one sentence: "Don't memorize. Think, learn, and understand." I have over 5 years experience tutoring children (between 4 and 18 years old), 3 years of tutoring university students regarding many topics and assisting them with their papers, 3 years of guiding business professionals in the English language and in a wide variety of subjects. I'm more than happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to contact me! Looking forward to meeting you!
