In my final six months of university, I wrote a thirty-page dissertation with a supervising professor on the evolution of race in adaptations of Shakespeare's "Othello" and "The Merchant of Venice." The project took three months, three months of writing, and culminated in a thesis defense where I successfully justified my paper to an advising professor. As a university student, I took courses in a wide array of subjects, ranging from in-depth explorations of Shakespeare and Chaucer, to survey courses on Victorian, Gothic, and Contemporary American Literature. During this time, I was also independently tutoring friends and peers in writing and essay development.
